Easy Devil's Food Cake
Ingredients - 1 1/2 cup sifted enriched flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs, well beaten
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup melted shortening
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 3/4 cup milk
Directions - Set oven for moderate, 350f.
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine eggs and sugar.
- Add shortening, vanilla, and chocolate and stir to mix well.
- Add sifted dry ingredients, a little at a time, alternately with milk.
- Pour into pans.
- Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched with fingertip.
- Cool in pans 5 minutes.
- Remove to a rack; cool.
- Frost as desired.
