CHOCOLATE DATE NUT CAKE ¼ cup butter 1 cup sugar 2 eggs, beaten 1 Economy Size Bar (7 oz.) Nestlé’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate 2½ cups sifted all-purpose flour 3 teaspoons baking powder ¼ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon ½ teaspoon nutmeg ¾ cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup chopped dates ½ cup chopped walnuts
Melt chocolate in double boiler.
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and melted chocolate,mix thoroughly.
Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and spices threetimes. Add to chocolate mixture alternately with milk.
Beat well. Add vanilla, dates and nuts.
Bake in greased loaf tin at 375° F. 40 to 45 minutes.
