What's the difference between art/fine art and crafting?

Art
- Focus: Often created for self-expression, exploration, or emotional impact.
- Purpose: Aims to provoke thought, evoke emotion, or communicate ideas.
- Uniqueness: Usually one-of-a-kind or part of a limited body of work.
- Mediums: Includes painting, sculpture, performance, conceptual pieces, etc.
- Intention: Often less utilitarian—it's more about the message or aesthetic.

Crafts
- Focus: Rooted in skill, tradition, and function.
- Purpose: Often made to be useful or decorative, like pottery, quilting, or woodworking.
- Reproducibility: Can be replicated—think knitting patterns or crochet designs.
- Mediums: Textiles, ceramics, wood, glass, and other hands-on materials.
- Intention: Combines creativity with practicality or techniques.

It's important to note that the lines between art and craft can be blurry, and many creations can fall into both categories. A beautifully crafted object can also be considered a work of art, and conversely, an artistic expression can be executed with great skill and technique. .
