Crumb CookiesYield: 4 1/2 dozen, two inches in diameter
Ingredients - 1/4 cup shortening, (2 ounces)
- 6 tablespoon sugar, (3 ounces)
- 2 1/2 cup flour, (10 ounces)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 2 2/3 cup dry bread crumbs, (8 ounces)
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
Directions - Cream shortening.
- Add sugar and continue creaming until light and fluffy.
- Sift flour, then measure.
- Resift with salt, soda and spices, then add the bread crumbs.
- Combine molasses and milk, and add alternately with the dry ingredients to the creamed shortening and sugar, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
- Roll out on slightly floured board.
- Cut with cookie cutter.
- Place cookies on a greased baking sheet and bake in a slow oven (300f) 15 minutes.
