[*]1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
[*]1/2cupbutter, or margarine
[*]1cupsugar
[*]3 eggs, slightly beaten
[*]3/4cup dark corn syrup
[*]1/4teaspoonsalt
[*]1teaspoonvanilla
[*]1 1/2cup chopped pecans
[*]whole pecan, meats
Directions
[*]Chill pie shell thoroughly.
[*]Set oven for moderate, 375f.
[*]Cream butter or margarine.
[*]Add sugar gradually and continue beating until light and fluffy.
[*]Add eggs, syrup, salt, vanilla, and chopped nuts.
[*]Pour into pie shell.
[*]Bake 40 to 45 minutes.
[*]Garnish with whole nuts.
[*]Serve with whipped cream, if desired.
