[*]1 3/4cup sifted enriched flour
[*]1/2teaspoonbaking powder
[*]1/4teaspoonsalt
[*]1/2cupwalnut, meats, finely chopped
[*]1/2teaspoonvanilla
Directions
[*]Beat egg.
[*]Add brown sugar and shortening.
[*]Mix and sift flour, baking powder, and salt.
[*]Add chopped walnut meats and vanilla: mix well.
[*]Shape in roll 2 inches in diameter; wrap in waxed paper.
[*]Chill until firm; slice thin.
[*]Set oven for moderate, 375f.
[*]Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 5 minutes or until brown.
[*]Makes about 48.
