Cut out cookies
My favorite cutout cookie recipe.1 cup Butter, Softened
1 cup Sugar
1 Egg
2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
3 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
½ teaspoon Salt
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon almond extract or 1/2 to 1 tsp other flavoring such as orange, lemon, etc.
For a chocolate version add 4 squares of melted unsweetened chocolate (not cocoa, it dries out the cookie)
Beat butter and sugar together, add egg and vanilla. Add salt and baking powder. Add flour a cup at a time. If it's too stiff add a teaspoon of water or as much needed
Roll out and cut. Freeze for 10 minutes at least on cookie sheet to help prevent spread
Bake at 350° for 12 minutes or until lightly browned
Dough may be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
Baked cookies can be frozen for up to 3 months in an airtight container. Thaw cookies on counter still inside container to prevent condensation.

You roll out the dough, cut it with a cookie cutter, bake it then frost it with buttercream or royal icing. This is a cutout, you might call it something else.
