Have you ever tried creating your own patterns?

I have not been brave enough to try creating my own yet. Curious if any of you have and how you approched it.

I have created my own charts a few times and then just used a basic/classic pattern and built the charts in

Well, I've tried a couple of them but I'm frustration intolerant, so I'd rather get the patterns. I'm sorry

I have made a couple. It takes a long time cause you'll have to redo a lot of parts with different stitches to get your desired look.

I prefer creating my own patterns for crochet, but I still follow patterns for knitting. That's because I started crocheting 6 years ago, while I'm a knitting newbie. Also, I find it easier to undo and redo crochet than knitting. Anyway, even if creating your own patterns can be very frustrating, in my opinion, the product will fit perfectly if you're skilled enough... and in the end, I feel very proud. I've expressed my creativity to the max!
